About the program
A showcase of the theatrical capabilities of singers today which contribute to the vast palette of possibilities available to composers of opera.
This concert includes Judith Weir's King Harold's Saga a monodrama for solo soprano. Dame Judith Weir was Master of the Queen's Music in the United Kingdom from 2014-2024, appointed by the Queen herself and the first woman to hold the title.
The program also included Oliver Knussen's Four Late Poems and an Epigram of Rainer Maria Rilke for unaccompanied soprano and Stripsody by Cathy Beberien.
Between these theatrical unaccompanied voice pieces are two pieces for solo flute: Masks by Oliver Knussen and Voice by Toru Takemitsu.
